India’s Youngest Millionaire? Narayana Murthy’s 17-Month-Old Grandson Earns ?10.65 Crore from Infosys Dividends

In a story that blends legacy with fortune, Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the 17-month-old grandson of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, has become one of India’s youngest millionaires, raking in ?10.65 crore in dividends for the financial year 2024-25.

Born in November 2023 to Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, Ekagrah holds 15 lakh shares in Infosys—equivalent to a 0.04% stake in the IT behemoth. These shares, worth over ?240 crore, were gifted to him by Narayana Murthy when he was just four months old, marking the beginning of a remarkable financial journey for the infant.

Infosys, in its latest announcement, declared a final dividend of ?22 per share, which alone will fetch Ekagrah ?3.3 crore. This adds to the ?7.35 crore earned from previous interim dividends in the same fiscal year, totaling a massive ?10.65 crore in earnings—all before the child can even speak full sentences.

Since receiving the shares, Infosys has rolled out three dividend payouts, amounting to ?49 per share. With this, Ekagrah is now counted among the youngest high-net-worth individuals in the Indian corporate world.

Ekagrah is the third grandchild of Narayana Murthy and philanthropist-author Sudha Murty. His cousins, Krishna and Anoushka, are the daughters of Akshata Murty and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Meanwhile, other members of the Murthy family are also set for significant dividend earnings.

  • Akshata Murty, with a 1.04% stake (3.89 crore shares), will earn ?85.71 crore.
  • Narayana Murthy himself will receive ?33.3 crore.
  • Sudha Murty is expected to get ?76 crore.

The record date for Infosys' final dividend is May 30, and the payout is scheduled for June 30.

Infosys, founded in 1981 with just ?10,000 in capital, has grown into a global tech powerhouse. Sudha Murty played a pivotal role in its early days by investing her personal savings to support the company. Her journey from software pioneer to Rajya Sabha nominee for her philanthropic contributions is inspirational.

The rise of Ekagrah Rohan Murty shows how generational wealth, business acumen, and legacy can intersect in fascinating ways—even before one’s second birthday.
